SEARCH FOR LADY LUCK AND CREW SUSPENDED

BOSTON. At 2 a.m. on February 2, 2007 the Coast Guard received an electronic signal from the 52-foot commercial fishing vessel, Lady Luck, indicating the vessel may be in distress. The signal did not include any information on its position. An urgent marine broadcast was sent out at 2:55 a.m. alerting boaters in the area where the boat was believed to have been, to be on the lookout.

By 3:18 a.m. the Coast Guard had located the coordinates of the epirb signal, showing it was about 12 miles southeast of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. An HU-25 Falcon Jet was launched, and it located the flashing light from the epirb at 4:45 am. Nearby fishing vessel, including Blue Water II, joined in on the search, but neither Lady Luck nor its two-man crew, were located.

After 27 searches covering more than 8140 square miles, the search was suspended at 5:34 pm that evening. The missing crewmen are identified as Sean Cone, 24, of North Andover, Mass, and Dan Miller, 21, of north Hampton, N.H..
